La catedràtica Núria Fagella ha estat escollida com a nova degana de la Facultat de Matemàtiques i Informàtica de la Universitat de Barcelona. El nomenament formal es farà efectiu a finals de juliol, amb l’inici del nou curs acadèmic. Fins llavors, l’equip actual continuarà en funcions per garantir la normalitat del tancament de curs.
Fagella, investigadora adscrita al Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM), assumeix el càrrec amb una amplia trajectòria acadèmica i de recerca. Especialista en sistemes dinàmics complexos, és catedràtica del Departament de Matemàtiques i Informàtica de la UB i co-líder del grup de recerca Holodyn. Va obtenir el seu doctorat el 1995 a la Boston University sota la direcció de Robert L. Devaney, i ha estat reconeguda amb distincions com l’ICREA Acadèmia (2021) i la Chern Professorship a l’MSRI de Berkeley (2022). Al llarg de la seva carrera, ha dirigit diverses tesis doctorals, ha publicat més de cinquanta articles en revistes de referència i és coautora, juntament amb Bodil Branner, del llibre Quasiconformal Surgery in Holomorphic Dynamics (Cambridge University Press, 2014).
Preguntada sobre què representa encetar aquesta nova etapa, Fagella afirma que “és un repte immens i em fa molt de respecte. Però m’il·lusiona col·laborar amb la comunitat d’una manera diferent a com ho he fet fins ara”. Afegeix que “els principals reptes seran la implementació dels nous plans d’estudis, la racionalització de la gestió de la recerca i el seguiment de la construcció i trasllat al nou edifici, però hi ha moltes altres qüestions que, tot i no semblar tan prioritàries, són igual o més importants”.
Des del CRM volem felicitar la Núria Fagella per aquest nomenament i desitjar-li molts encerts en aquesta nova etapa.

Núria Fagella Rabionet és catedràtica de la Universitat de Barcelona i investigadora adscrita al Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM), especialitzada en sistemes dinàmics complexos. Fundadora del grup de recerca HOLODYN, es va doctorar el 1995 a la Boston University sota la direcció de Robert L. Devaney. Ha publicat més de cinquanta articles en revistes de primer nivell i és coautora del llibre Quasiconformal Surgery in Holomorphic Dynamics (CUP, 2014). Guardonada amb la beca ICREA Acadèmia i la Chern Professorship al MSRI de Berkeley, ha combinat la recerca amb la direcció de tesis, la gestió acadèmica i la divulgació.
