El Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) va participar activament en la Nit de la Recerca Europea amb una conferència de Marc Calvo Schwarzälder i un vídeo divulgatiu de Roser Homs sobre filogenètica. A més, dissabte passat, el CRM va acollir una sessió del programa Bojos per les Matemàtiques, a càrrec de Tim Myers i Marc Calvo, orientat a estudiants amb talent per les matemàtiques.
Bellaterra, Setembre 30, 2024 – La Nit de la Recerca Europea és un esdeveniment que es celebra a més de 300 ciutats europees amb l’objectiu d’acostar la ciència al públic general a través d’activitats interactives, tallers i xerrades. Aquest esdeveniment està finançat pel programa Horizon Europe i cada any reuneix científics i científiques amb la ciutadania en un espai compartit de coneixement.
Aquest any, el Centre de Recerca Matemàtica ha tornat a participar, en aquesta ocasió amb la xerrada Les matemàtiques del món real, impartida per Marc Calvo Schwarzälder, actual investigador del programa Serra Húnter a la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). Aquesta conferència, celebrada a la Biblioteca Gabriel García Márquez de Barcelona, va explorar l’aplicació de les matemàtiques en la resolució de problemes quotidians.
Roser Homs, investigadora postdoctoral Beatriu de Pinós al CRM, també va participar en la Nit de la Recerca amb un vídeo sobre filogenètica, explicant com l’algebra ens ajuda a comprendre l’evolució i les relacions entre les espècies.
A més, dissabte passat el CRM va acollir una sessió del programa Bojos per les Matemàtiques, impartida per Tim Myers, investigador principal del CRM, i Marc Calvo. Aquest programa, creat per la FEEMCAT, la SCM i la Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera, està orientat a estudiants de 1r de batxillerat amb especial talent per les matemàtiques i interès en les ciències.
Amb aquestes activitats, el CRM reforça el seu compromís amb la divulgació científica, acostant la recerca a la societat i destacant la importància de les matemàtiques i altres disciplines en la vida quotidiana.
