El CRM participa un any més a la Festa de la Ciència
El Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) va participar en la 17a Festa de la Ciència amb dos tallers: La La Lambda: Les Matemàtiques de la Música, que va explorar la relació entre les matemàtiques i la música, i Neural Code, que va introduir els assistents al món de la neurociència.
El Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) va estar present a la 17a edició de la Festa de la Ciència, celebrada els dies 8 i 9 de juny al Centre de Cultura i Memòria del Born de Barcelona. L’esdeveniment va congregar més de 20.000 persones i va comptar amb la participació de prop de 140 entitats, oferint una gran varietat d’activitats científiques per a totes les edats.
El CRM va portar aquest any dos tallers adreçats al públic de totes les edats. El primer d’ells, realitzat el dissabte amb el títol La La Lambda: Les Matemàtiques de la Música, va explorar la fascinant relació entre les matemàtiques i la música, desvetllant com les ones sonores, les escales musicals i els patrons rítmics estan arrelats en conceptes matemàtics. Aquesta activitat va oferir una nova perspectiva sobre com percebem la música.
El taller va anar a càrrec de Daniel Ramos, doctor en matemàtiques per la UAB i membre d’Imaginary, una organització sense ànim de lucre dedicada a la divulgació de les matemàtiques. En concret, el taller va fer ús d’algunes de les aplicacions interactives desenvolupades per l’exposició La La Lab per mostrar com les matemàtiques i la música parlen un llenguatge molt similar.
El diumenge, investigadors del CRM i de l’IDIBAPS van oferir el taller Neural Code, on els assistents van poder conèixer de primera mà el món de la neurociència i aprendre sobre el funcionament de les xarxes neuronals i les seves aplicacions en tecnologia moderna. Els participants van poder experimentar com el cervell envia senyals per fer-nos moure mitjançant experiments relacionats amb l’activitat elèctrica en músculs i una interfície humà-humà. A més, van posar a prova els límits de la memòria i van intentar desxifrar el codi neuronal en una presentació interactiva.
El taller va comptar amb la participació de Klaus Wimmer, investigador principal del grup de neurociència del CRM, i Alexandre Garcia-Durán, doctorand del mateix grup. També van participar, per part de l’Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), Jaime de la Rocha, investigador principal, Manuel Molano i Alexandre Mahrach, investigadors postdoctorals, i Caterina Barezzi i Adrià Moran, doctorands també del mateix laboratori.
La participació del CRM en la Festa de la Ciència és ja una tradició anual al centre, com a part del compromís amb la divulgació científica i l’educació. Amb aquests tallers, el CRM no només treballa per acostar la recerca matemàtica a la societat i el públic general, sinó que també vol ajudar a inspirar la pròxima generació de científics i matemàtics.
