“Mates i a xalar” a la ràdio: xerrades de matemàtiques divulgatives a les Terres de l’Ebre
El divendres 10 de maig, un grup d’investigadors del Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, en col·laboració amb el Centre d’Estudis de la Ribera d’Ebre (CERE), van preparar una jornada de tallers i xerrades de divulgació matemàtica a l’Institut Julio Antonio de Móra d’Ebre.
A continuació, van fer un breu esmorzar a càrrec del CERE per continuar amb una xerrada titulada La lògica de l’absurd: introducció a les demostracions matemàtiques per part de Fernando Gastón, de la KTU (Unitat de Transferència de Coneixement) i la Mariona Fucho-Rius, de l’equip de Comunicació i Outreach. En aquesta xerrada, es va presentar una demostració visual del famós i temut Teorema de Pitàgores a partir de triangles i quadrats i vam introduir què és demostrar amb la tècnica de reducció a l’absurd, posant com a exercicis demostrar que existeixen infinits nombres primers, de la mateixa forma que ho va fer Euclides al segle IV aC i que arrel de dos és irracional. Per acabar, els vam deixar un joc sobre teoria de grafs, en què havien d’intentar trobar quin és el mínim de colors que es necessiten per pintar un graf sense que vèrtexs adjacents comparteixin color, conegut com el Teorema dels Quatre Colors.
Finalment, vam tenir una xerrada-taller plenària, Fenòmens no lineals a la Natura: Caos al Canadà i moviments de gavines al Delta de l’Ebre, per part del Dr. Josep Sardanyés, investigador principal del CRM, que va parlar sobre el caos, dinàmiques no-lineals i exemples concrets com el moviment de gavines a causa del social copying al Delta de l’Ebre davant d’espècies depredadores. Un altre exemple de comportament caòtic que va mostrar és el pèndol doble, amb el qual els alumnes van poder veure com era impossible preveure quina seria la seva trajectòria una vegada llençat.
Actes com aquest, representen un pas endavant en poder introduir la ciència d’una forma més exhaustiva i democràtica, intentant aproximar les mateixes oportunitats i motivacions a zones rurals i de província.
