From September 3 to 5, 2025, the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM) hosted the Bilbao–Barcelona Analysis and PDE Meeting. For three days, researchers from both cities met face to face, joined by colleagues from other institutions, to share results, exchange ideas, and keep alive a collaboration that has already proven fruitful over the years.

The CRM was present in every part of the gathering. Our director, Carme Cascante, joined Albert Mas (UPC and CRM affiliate) on the organizing committee. Several affiliated researchers were also invited to speak: Marcel Guardia, Joaquim Ortega-Cerdà and Xavier Ros-Oton from the Universitat de Barcelona, Xavier Tolsa from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, and Gissell Estrada and Olli Saari from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. The next generation was represented too, with our PhD student Joaquim Duran contributing to the sessions.

Both BCAM and CRM are part of the SOMMa alliance, which brings together research centres in Spain recognised with the Severo Ochoa and Maria de Maeztu distinctions. The meeting highlighted the strength of the Barcelona–Bilbao connection and showed how mathematics moves forward when ideas circulate freely and technical depth is shared in open discussion.
