Àngel Jorba i Joaquim Ortega, catedràtics de la Universitat de Barcelona i investigadors adscrits al Centre de Recerca Matemàtica, han estat guardonats amb els ajuts ICREA Acadèmia 2024, que atorguen 40.000 euros anuals durant cinc anys per potenciar la recerca d’excel·lència en les universitats catalanes.
La Institució Catalana de Recerca i Estudis Avançats (ICREA), amb el suport de l’Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca (AGAUR) i del Departament de Recerca i Universitats de la Generalitat de Catalunya, ha distingit dos investigadors adscrits al Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM) en la convocatòria 2024 del programa Acadèmia. Àngel Jorba i Joaquim Ortega, catedràtics al Departament de Matemàtiques i Informàtica de la Universitat de Barcelona (UB), són dos dels 50 acadèmics seleccionats en aquesta edició. El programa ICREA Acadèmia proporciona als guardonats una dotació de 40.000 euros anuals durant cinc anys, destinada a intensificar la seva dedicació a la recerca i obrir noves vies d’investigació. Aquest suport està dissenyat per reforçar la trajectòria científica d’investigadors amb un gran potencial de creixement i un fort impacte acadèmic.
Els ajuts són concedits per ICREA, una organització creada per la Generalitat de Catalunya amb la finalitat de promoure la recerca de qualitat al sistema universitari català. Aquesta iniciativa ofereix els recursos necessaris per avançar en projectes innovadors i consolidar el lideratge científic dels premiats.
Un suport per impulsar l’excel·lència científica
Àngel Jorba orienta la seva recerca cap a la mecànica celeste i l’astrodinàmica, amb un interès especial en el disseny de missions espacials. Ha fet aportacions rellevants en l’estudi de moviments quasiperiòdics en sistemes dinàmics i ha desenvolupat eines numèriques i semianalítiques que permeten aplicar la teoria dels sistemes dinàmics a situacions reals amb precisió i eficàcia. “Un dels punts forts d’aquesta distinció és la reducció docent que porta associada,” comenta Jorba sobre el reconeixement ICREA Acadèmia. “És, per tant, una gran ocasió per poder dedicar-me de manera intensiva a la recerca”.
De la seva banda, Joaquim Ortega Cerdà destaca per la seva recerca en anàlisi complexa i teoria de funcions. Entre els seus treballs més notables es troben l’estudi de l’equació de Cauchy-Riemann, el nucli de Bergman i les seqüències d’interpolació i mostreig. Ortega també forma part del comitè executiu del CRM com a responsable de les activitats de recerca. “Per a mi aquest guardó representa dues coses: un reconeixement pel qual estic molt agraït i, més important, la possibilitat de dedicar més temps a la recerca durant un període llarg i previsible,” afirma Ortega. A més, subratlla la importància d’aquest període de cinc anys per plantejar-se objectius més ambiciosos i a llarg termini, afegint: “Confio poder reforçar les col·laboracions amb investigadors fora de Catalunya ara que tindré més llibertat per fer estades curtes de recerca”.
