Every year, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awards around 20 prizes to internationally renowned academics from abroad in recognition of their outstanding accomplishments in research. The award is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This year, our colleague Sergey Tikhonov has received the  Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel  award for “a well-founded expectation of future outstanding academic achievements that will have a lasting impact on their discipline beyond their immediate research area.” Sergey’s research interests are in Harmonic Analysis and Approximation Theory. We express our warm congratulations to him.
