Abstract
We review some classical results on prime end theory and on self-maps of the unit disk, including the Denjoy–Wolff Theorem itself. Such a theorem does not hold for arbitrary simply connected domains: think of the complement in the sphere of the topologist’s sine curve, with an appropriately chosen map. We give a geometric characterization of domains for which the Denjoy–Wolff Theorem holds, in terms of the behaviour of the horospheres near the boundary. This is based on joint work with F. Bracci.
Lecturer
Anna Miriam Benini
University of Parma
Anna Miriam Benini is an associate professor at the University of Parma. She works in complex dynamics, in one and two dimensions: what happens to points and regions when a holomorphic map is applied again and again. Her recent papers deal with non-autonomous dynamics, wandering domains and Denjoy–Wolff sets. This BGSMath course is part of her CRM Chair of Excellence.
