My background is in Physics (BS at the University of the Basque Country) and I did my PhD in Paris (Institut Curie, Universite PSL) on reaction-diffusion equations, focusing on cases where there are interactions between the components in the solution (i.e. non-ideal solutions). It was during my postdoc (John Innes Centre, Norwich, UK) that I gained an interest on gene regulation and epigenetics. There, I worked on stochastic models that can help us explain and understand data obtained from genomics experiments. Here at the CRM, working with Tomás Alarcón, I aim to complement this work by looking into models that can describe the three-dimensional configuration of the chromosome and its connection to gene expression.
