The project Abstract Minds, hosted and supported by the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM), portrays mathematicians who dedicate themselves to basic research in mathematics.
The project aims to approach the mathematician’s attitude towards mathematical research, their motivations, the strong doses of passion invested and ultimately how this reflects in their daily life. The real interest in this project is the mathematicians themselves, not the mathematics.
The mathematicians appearing in the project have been selected among all researchers (staff and visitors) related to CRM during the academic courses 2008/2009 and 2009/2010. The project contains 35 high quality photographs, complemented with short questionnaires.
A printed edition of the Abstract Minds project was published on May 2014.
You can see here a digital short version of the project.
