Course's Notes NEW!

                             Notes 2

The goal of this summer school is to give an introduction to several issues around automorphisms of free groups which are at present very active research topics. There will be three longer courses (4-5h) and two smaller ones (2-3h).  The long courses will serve as serious approaches involving (home) work on the side of the participants.  The smaller courses are (in part) meant as "appetizers" to be followed up by weekly presentations or study groups for the core period of our 4 months program.

The topics of the courses vary from algorithmic/combinatorial to geometric/dynamical issues.

Javier Aramayona, National University of Ireland at Galway
Christopher J. Leininger, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Geometric structures on surfaces and geodesic currents (4 hours)
Ruth Charney, Brandeis University

Automorphisms of right-angled Artin groups (3 hours)
Volker Diekert, Universität Stuttgart

Locally finite graphs of finite tree width and virtually free groups (5 hours)
Saul Schleimer, University of Warwick

Hyperbolic groups and straight-line programs (5 hours)
Pedro V. Silva, Centro de Matemática da Universidade do Porto

Fixed points of virtually free group homomorphisms (3 hours)
