SPEAKERS

Michèle Audin (Institut de Recherche de Mathématique Avancée, Strasbourg)
Title: Lagrangian and special lagrangian submanifolds
Summary: This course will give a description of known examples of lagrangian submanifolds of symplectic manifolds, problems with especial lagrangian submanifolds, especially , examples, deformation theorem, and relation with mirror symmetry. (7.5 hours)

Ana Cannas da Silva (Instituto Técnico Superior de Lisboa)
Title: Symplectic Toric manifolds
Summary: Native to algebraic geometry, toric manifolds have been studied by symplectic geometers as examples of extremely symmetric Hamiltonian spaces. This course will describe the symplectic geometry of toric manifolds as Hamiltonian systems, including their classification (due to Delzant) in terms of special polytopes. (7.5 hours)

Eugene Lerman (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign)
Title: Symmetries of symplectic and contact manifolds
Summary: This course will deal with completely integrable geodesic flows, the study of global homogeneous action-angle variables turns out to be a special case. This leads to the study of completely integrable torus actions on contact manifolds and analogues of Delzant theorem for contact manifolds. As a corollary one gets a theorem of Zelditch: any toric-integrable geodesic flow on a torus comes from a flat metric. (7.5 hours)
