The BARCSYN meeting is a forum for the computational, systems and cognitive neuroscience community​ from the Barcelona area​.

Barcsyn is about bringing together researchers from computational, systems and cognitive neuroscience.  Our goal is to provide a forum for lively discussion and promote active collaboration between Barcelona-based research groups, especially between theorists and experimentalists.​

This is the fourth annual Barcsyn conference.  The conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, June 18 and 19, 2015, at the Institute d'Estudis Catalans.  Each day we will have 8-10 brief oral presentations from local researchers, a poster session and a longer keynote lecture from a renowned researcher from abroad.  You can check the past editions here​.

​Types of participation

Participants have the option to contribute with a talk or with a poster. The poster boards we have measure one meter wide by two meters high.  Any poster size within these limits is fine. To apply for talks and/or poster presentation please send a message with your abstract, and type of participation desired to Neus Portet (​) before May 16, 2015 (extended deadline). A resolution message will be sent before the end of May.

​BARCCSYN logo competition

Submissions are open to the official BARCCSYN Logo Competition.
Award for the best logo: 100€

We invite you to submit proposals for a logo that will be used in future editions of the Barccsyn conference and also to represent the Barcelona Computational, Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience community in general (for example, the logo will be featured on

Ideally the Barccsyn logo should be visually appealing, have some connection to Barcelona and to our research field.

Submission instructions:
Send your proposal for the Barccsyn logo (as pdf, jpg or tiff) to​ before June 12, 2015. 23:59 MEZ. Don't forget to include your name in the email.

Determination of the best logo:
The winner of the competition will be determined during this year's Barccsyn conference. The submitted logos will be exhibited during Barccsyn and the conference participants will vote for their favorite design. The authors of the logo proposals are not revealed during this stage of the competition. The winner will be announced on June 19 during an award ceremony in which the winning logo is presented and the name of the winner is announced.

The winner will receive a prize consisting in an Amazon 100€ gift voucher and will have the honor to author the image of the BARCCSYN community for the years to come.

Rules for participation:
Please make sure that your proposal is original and that it does not violate any copyright regulations. The winner will be required to sign an image license to publish which will grant the Barccyn community the exclusive right to use the logo.
Registration for the Barccsyn meeting is encouraged but not a formal requirement.
Logos that do not fulfill minimal esthetic requirements or are clearly not compatible with the spirit of our community can be excluded from the competition.
The Barccsyn organization committee reserves the right to cancel the competition in extraordinary circumstances.
