Description

The CRM (www.crm.cat) is an independent research centre in the CERCA network since 2008, with the purpose of promoting both advanced training and research in all areas of mathematics, in collaboration with universities and other research institutions in Catalonia. CRM’s mission includes transferring knowledge based on the centre's research to society and aiming at having societal impact.

Research at CRM covers a wide spectrum of fields, from the most fundamental areas (algebra/number theory/geometry/topology, analysis and PDEs, combinatorics and dynamical systems) to applied mathematics (in the fields of biomedicine, climate change mitigation and adaptation and natural hazards).

 

The Computational and Mathematical Neuroscience group at the CRM is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the project CIRCUITS. This contract is envisaged to start on 1/12/2025 and will last until 31/08/2027

TASKS:

  • Develop and analyze computational models of temporal evidence integration in perceptual decision making.
  • Perform statistical analyses of behavioral and neural data from humans and non-human primates.
  • Collaborate with experimental partners to validate model predictions against empirical findings.
  • Contribute to scientific publications and dissemination of project results at international conferences.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • PhD in computational neuroscience, applied mathematics, engineering, physics, or a related discipline.
  • Proven expertise in decision-making research, including computational modeling and data analysis.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB) and experience with large datasets.
  • Excellent written and spoken English for scientific communication and publications.

 

ASSESSABLE CONDITIONS:

  • Publications in high-impact journals in neuroscience or related fields.
  • Prior experience in international collaborations or multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Background in information theory, statistical modeling, or advanced data analysis methods.
  • Experience with eye-tracking, neurophysiological recordings, or EEG data related to decision making.
  • Teaching, mentoring, or supervision experience at the graduate or undergraduate level.

 

CONTRACT DETAILS:

  • Full-time (37,5h/week).
  • Qualification: the candidate must have a doctoral degree required for the job.
  • Estimated start date: 1st December 2025
  • Duration of contract: 2 years (aprox)
  • Location: CRM facilities.

EVALUATION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:

The selection process will be evaluated by Dr. Klaus Wimmer, as principal investigator of the Computational Neuroscience group,  Dr. Alex Roxin as a member of the Computational Neuroscience group and another member from the research group. This process consists in:
