Goals
The advanced course is focused on Hilbert spaces of entire functions, more concretely on Krein-deBranges spaces. The main goal of the course will be to understand the structure of these spaces and their relationship with other areas. They were introduced by deBranges in the 60's in his quest to study the invariant subspaces problem and the Bieberbach conjecture. He produced a theory that included both the orthogonal polynomials and the Paley-Wiener spaces. This has been a natural context to study many problems in Analysis and Physics. Lately, they have gained new life and are a key tool in the study of problems of approximation (by meromorphic functions with given poles), problems of interpolation and sampling in the Paley-Wiener space, operator theory (for instance in the study of the injectivity of Toeplitz operators), and in applied problems as in the Sturm-Liouville problem and in the theory of random matrices. Nevertheless all this new activity, the literature is mostly in article form, except two books by deBranges and Sarason that cover the more classical material, so this course has an aim to consolidate the existing knowledge and present it in an accessible way to a wide public that we expect may consist mainly on young researchers.
