Conferences and Workshops

Guidelines

The CRM welcomes proposals for conferences and workshops. If approved, the CRM will act as organisational unit, by offering secretarial support, advice, and funding. A scientific committee nominated by the proposers will be responsible for the selection of speakers and the design of the event programme.

• Conferences may assemble up to 100 participants. Typically a conference runs from Monday morning through Friday afternoon, with a break on Wednesday afternoon. The scientific programme consists of invited and contributed talks by the participants as decided by the scientific committee. The registration fee includes attendance to the scientific sessions, conference materials, coffee-breaks, social dinner and cultural activities. Funding from the CRM covers lodging and living expenses of the invited speakers. The CRM also offers lodging and registration grants to participants, with the number decided by negotiation with the proposers and based upon the assessment of other possible sources of financing. A website for the conference is set by the CRM, including online registration and the guidelines for grant application.



• Workshops are thought of as more informal meetings, with variable length, in which the CRM contribution is essentially the free use of its premises and organizational resources. Moreover, the CRM may offer a financial contribution towards the lodging and living expenses of a small number of keynote speakers, upon negotiation with the proposers.

The CRM has a fully-equipped auditorium with a capacity of 100 people, and three additional lecture rooms for 25 people. There is also suitable space for coffee breaks, internet access, and a meeting room. The Bellaterra campus offers hotel rooms and apartment rental service for participants, subject to availability.

Submission of proposals

This call for proposals is addressed to individual researchers or teams working in any area of mathematics or in disciplines that involve high-level mathematics. Proposals should be submitted by sending the requested information (click here for details) to the e-mail address crmcalls@crm.cat, at least 15 months prior to the proposed starting date of the event. Proposals will be reviewed by the CRM Scientific Advisory Board, and decisions will be made in January and July of each year. Event proposers are welcome to contact the CRM Secretariat for assistance in the proposal preparation.
