Goals
The main focuses of the workshops are Iwasawa theory and Characteristic p L-functions. Both topics have seen important advances in recent years, and of course they are strictly linked and help to the understanding of each other: thus the two workshops should be regarded as part 1 and part 2 of an activity having essentially one single scope. Goal of the first workshop is to present the last advances in Iwasawa theory over function fields and related subjects, such as the geometric Birch and Swinnerton-Dyer conjecture, and to bring together experts. Relevant topics will be, for example, geometric versions of Iwasawa's main conjectures, both in the commutative and non-commutative setting, of Stark's conjectures and of Beilinson's conjecture; Mordell-Weil, Tate-Shafarevich and Selmer groups for Drinfeld modules and for abelian varieties over function fields, Drinfeld modular varieties, Heegner points and Gross-Zagier formulas.

LODGING GRANTS NEW!
There are some lodging grants available. If you wish to apply for it please send an email to Ms. Nuria Hernandez (nhernandez@crm.cat)
NSF Grant*
A limited amount of funding is available from the US National Science Foundation to support participation by junior, US-based researchers, in the scientific events organized during the Research program on Arithmetic Geometry, from February 22 to April 16, 2010, as the one announced in this page. If eligible and interested please follow the link.
Call for Contributed Talks
Besides the invited talks, contributed talks from the participants are
encouraged.
If you intend to participate and present a talk, please send us a title and
abstract (a PDF and word file of one or two pages) through nthe following email
address:
wkiwasawa@crm.cat
Deadline to submit an abstract: March 1st, 2010.
Please make sure that the submitted abstract contains the names and affiliations
of all the authors.
The scientific committee will carry out a selection process among the
contributed talks to check their suitability to the Workshop themes and to
distribute the available time slots.
