General description

Following the tradition of the old Oxford Study Groups with Industry (currently, European Study Groups with Industry), these are workshops where mathematicians work on problems that have been suggested by either industries or technology researchers. The problems to be studied are presented by industrialists on the first session. Afterwards, participants start working in groups, in brainstorming sessions of mathematical modelling, and at the end of the workshop participants present their conclusions. Information

• The 7th Study Group of Mathematics and Technology will take place from July 6 to 8, 2010, starting at 9.30 am and finishing at 5 pm. The workshop will be held in the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica at the campus of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
• Participation is open to academic researchers of any institution. Participants are asked to register by sending an e-mail to tmyers@crm.cat, providing the following data: name, institution, address, telephone number and e-mail address.
• Registration is free and includes lunch and coffee breaks.
• Participants with contacts with industrialists or technology researchers who might be interested in presenting problems are kindly asked to contact the organisers.
• GEMT 2010 is financially supported by the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (CRM).
