US National Science Foundation Research Grants

A limited amount of funding is available from the US National Science Foundation to support participation by junior, US-based researchers, in the scientific events organized during the Research program on Arithmetic Geometry, from February 22 to April 16, 2010. Visits should be scheduled in one of the groups below.

The support includes:

  • Two weeks of housing in a shared apartment arranged by the CRM.

  • Registration to the scientific events (those scheduled for the chosen group).

  • A subsistence allowance of $450.

  • A travel allowance of up to $800, to be reimbursed based on receipts for the actual airfare (and following the usual NSF rules about using US-based air carriers).

Eligible applicants should abstain from applying to CRM grants for the scientific events below.

The events and groups are:

Group 1: From February 21 to March 6, 2010*

Scientific event:

Advanced Course on Arithmetic Geometry for Function Fields of Positive Characteristic
February 22 to March 5, 2010

Group 2: From April 5 to April 17, 2010*

Scientific events:

Workshop on Iwasawa Theory over Function Fields of Characteristic p>0
April 6 to 10, 2010

Workshop and Advanced Course on Drinfeld Modules and L-functions
April 12 to 16, 2010

Interested graduate students, post-docs, and untenured assistant professors may apply by sending a CV and a short note (< 1 page), choosing the Group they wish to apply to and how they might benefit from the program to Ms. Neus Portet (nportet@crm.cat), by January 10, 2010 (new extended deadline).  Applications from women and underrepresented minorities are particularly encouraged.
